Wildlife Week Walkathon 2023: Opening of forest by conducting Trekking-cum-Walk for Wildlife on 2nd October, 2023.

Wildlife Week, observed in the first week of October nationwide, aims to raise awareness about wildlife and habitat conservation. Chandigarh’s Department of Forests & Wildlife organized a “Wildlife Walkathon,” inaugurated by Adviser Sh. Dharam Pal and attended by officials and the public. The 10 km trek through hilly terrain saw around 1800 participants, including school children, the general public, and the media. The event also collaborated with the Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society to raise HIV/AIDS awareness among youth. Chief Guest Dharam Pal commended the initiative, emphasizing its potential to sensitize the public to wildlife conservation. Several other activities are planned for the week, including exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and competitions.
